NAVAL PRESENCE

Again working on information learned from the Time Travel Team, the Inquisition wishes to begin establishing a naval presence, either by gaining allies who already have ships at their disposal, or by building a navy of its own.

A Bad Case of Crabs

SUBJECT:
PARTICIPANTS: Korrin Ataash, Darras Rivain, Tessa Mackenzie, Alexandra Karahalios, Alistair?
DATE FILED: Mid-Harvestmere
STATUS: Complete (IC, OOC is still ongoing)
SUMMARY: Some naval presence project members and their allies team up to track down something dangerous. They find out it's a large, vicious (but normal and untainted) crab that needs defeating. A crab dinner may have ensued afterward, because why let it go to waste?

REPORT:

So, that was fun. It wasn't a demon, ghost or leviathan. What we found was one gigantic crab.

In the beginning, it was just Darras and I scrounging from information from old fishermen prone to exaggerate even when they aren't hammered off whatever the pub gave them. They were a strange, superstitious lot, long on atmosphere and short on solid details. Still, at least they dismissed one of my fears and we didn't need to team up with the Red Lyrium project because our culprit was also tainted on top of being a raging ball of fuckery.

We rounded up a few people crazy enough to go hunting with us and headed for the Wounded Coast that afternoon. The crusty old fishermen told us to look for an inlet shaped like a old fishhook, around the wreck of a ship named Withered Tit. In the interests of keeping this somewhat brief, I'll spare you our twelve-year-old humor and avalanche of puns.

Upon finding the wreck, Darras came up with the idea of using bait (chicken necks) to lure in our target. We decided to swim out to the shipwreck, set the bait and see what came after it. Fortunately (sort of), we didn't have to wait very long before it made an appearance. The fishermen weren't wrong; it was tricky, dangerous bastard with a taste for flesh. That no one lost their limbs this time is a near-miracle, given that we had no dedicated healers with us. (That's not to say we didn't have potions and healing grenades, we weren't completely without common sense.) It put up one hell of a fight, but so did we, and we were able to keep that going longer than it could manage. So, it's no longer a threat and we got a nice crab dinner out of the deal. Good times.
