Though still reeling from political crises and the loss of Divine Justinia, the Chantry remains the most powerful institution in Thedas, and its relationship with the Inquisition has always been ambiguous at best. It is imperative that the Inquisition work to clarify and improve that relationship lest the Chantry turn its considerable influence against the organization. Working with the Chantry is also the Inquisition's best hope of shaping the ultimate outcome of the Mage/Templar conflict and the future of both the Circles and the Templar Order.
CHARACTER: Simon Ashlock ASSIGNMENT(S): Absolute Shartanty, Aboat a Buoy NOTES: He has a special interest in Andrastian things because he's a templar. (But also because of his current attachments to many elfs.)
CHARACTER: Myr! ASSIGNMENT(S): Absolute Shartanty, Gurns (BEES IN THE DESERT) NOTES: All about getting that Canticle made canon. But also, bees in the desert.
Your character has been assigned to ABOAT A BUOY. You're welcome to say they volunteered for this, or were ordered to do it as part of their Inquisition duties.
The characters assigned to this task are: Jehan + up to 3 of his choosing (so long as that person makes sense and/or can be justified and won’t make Herian look irresponsible for approving them). You’re not required to RP the events (it would be super cool, tho), but please coordinate OOC to compile a single report.
This month is racing by, so this plot is actually not due to have its report submitted until 21st May. If you need that extended, just let me know! If a report is not submitted by that time the mission will be assumed as not taking place.
If you have any questions or would like some further elaboration, please don't hesitate to let me know and I'll ELABORATE LIKE A BEAST.

ASSIGNMENT: THE TWIBLIGHT SAGA. WHAT The Inquisition has received a letter from a Revered Mother in the Churneau Chantry. One of the cities that was most severely swarmed by darkspawn in the Third Blight, the lands surrounding the city has begun once again to the the victims of darkspawn attacks. Panic and fear is rising in the city as more and more people flee there, many of the faithful are coming to the Chantry for safe harbour or being forced to do what they can on the street. With the Grey Wardens and help from the Anderfels now a risk and unlikely prospect, the Revered Mother is turning to the Inquisition for help.
This particular Revered Mother has been one to denounce the Inquisition at every turn; things must be desperate. The goal will be to deal with some darkspawn attacks, collect clues as to where they are coming from, and secure the area.
The good news is that, if successful, they will secure the good will of the people and more conservative Chantry members. If unsuccessful, a lot of people could die. WHERE Churneau, Orlais WHEN Bloomingtide/Justinian WHO 1-2 Chantry Relations people plus up to 4 others, so long as those persons are appropriate or can be justified. Probably good for at least a couple of the people going along to be Grey Wardens.
ASSIGNMENT: THE BOLD AND THE DUTIFUL. WHAT Comte Herbertus Necollier is incredibly devout, and incredibly artistic. Moved by the tales of the Inquisition’s heroism, he has invited Inquisition personnel to his estate in the scenic hills overlooking Lake Celestine. He would like to gift the Inquisition with a series of very expensive, very impressive paintings of their personnel performing heroic deeds - albeit with a strong Andrastian lean - as they will be the subjects of an artistic retreat that he is hosting with some of Orlais’ great up and coming artists.
Personnel will be required to pose for a number of paintings. A lot of paintings. Some of these will be sent to Kirkwall but a number will also be used to further the Inquisition’s reputation as a power working to do good deeds that Andraste herself would approve of.
This will also be an opportunity for some diplomatic progress, but subjects need to be sure to pose with appropriate heroic gravitas and be extremely beautiful. WHERE A Fancy Ass Estate near Lake Celestine, Orlais WHEN Bloomingtide/Justinian WHO 3-4 Chantry Relations
ASSIGNMENT: I SEA WHAT YOU DID THERE. WHAT A brother in a remote Chantry has found some strange markings in sea caves on the isle of Brandel’s Reach that need to be documented and researched. It looks like the markings may have been more extensive, but have been damaged through the years by the sea. Someone needs to record the findings before they are completely lost. WHERE Brandel’s Reach WHEN Bloomingtide/Justinian WHO 1-2 Chantry Relations people plus up to 2 others, so long as those persons are appropriate or can be justified.
CHARACTER: Galatea Lourdes ASSIGNMENT(S): The Bold & The Dutiful NOTES: "Who knew Dalish elves were so into Andraste?" - Necollier after meeting fake Dalish Gala, probably.
For sure! If anyone in this mission wants to sign up for the new assignments etc, please let them know they're free to do so before the report is submitted :]b
Your character has been assigned to The Bold & The Dutiful. You're welcome to say they volunteered for this, or were ordered to do it as part of their Inquisition duties.
The characters assigned to this task are: Galatea and Simon. You’re not required to RP every aspect (it would be super cool if you did RP some parts of it), but please coordinate OOC to compile a single report..
Please have the report submitted by the end of June. If you need that extended, just let me know! If a report is not submitted by that time the mission will be assumed as not taking place.
If you have any questions or would like some further elaboration, please don't hesitate to let me know and I'll ELABORATE LIKE A BEAST.

SUBJECT: Oops, I Did It Agurn PARTICIPANTS: Nahariel and Saoirse (later, Myr and Simon) DATE FILED: Solace, 9:44 Dragon STATUS: Complete SUMMARY: A pair was sent to investigate the herd of gurn that have taken over a remote chantry grounds near the Western Approach and do what they can to aid the chanters and deal with the situation
REPORT:
The pair set out early and with the kind weather were able to make good time to the Chantry.
When they arrived, it was quickly confirmed that gurn had indeed taken over the entirety of the grounds. They were not agitated enough to purposefully harm the clerics residing there, or seek to do increased damage to the structure of the Chantry now that they had settled in, but conversation with the clerics revealed that early attempts to get them to leave had caused some damage. One of their number was injured, but is stable and is being treated with no need for extra aid. The real problem is the gurns.
Having dealt with displaced herds before, Dahlasanor suggested that perhaps the reason for their move was a problem within their natural habitat, and that the two agents should follow the herd's trail back and investigate within the Western Approach to see what had caused the odd migration.
After traveling to the Approach and finding the initial living space of the herd, it was discovered that the space had been corrupted by multiple relatively small deposits of Red Lyrium that had grown from the ground; enough to cause the animals distress and cause them to seek out less tainted pastures. Proper care was taken, and ultimately the deposits were destroyed.
The task of luring or driving the herd back to their initial grounds and how to do so without further destruction to the grounds was a difficult discussion, but eventually the pair decided it might be best done by creating the feeling of a similar discomfort to the initial one that drove them from their home by utilizing magic. The hope is that this might cause them to decide to leave on their own, and that the herd could be further directed along with the continued use of magic as impetus. With some thought, Mage Ceallach was able to accomplish this, and though it was a time consuming process, the herd was safely delivered home.
Due to their desire to well-represent the Inquisition in this matter, and aware that extra willing aid given by a Dalish elf and Mage would most likely bode well for further diplomatic efforts, the pair extended the tenure of their stay in order to help repair the structural damage to the Chantry, re-seed and plant the gardens that had been destroyed, and restore the hives. During this time, Dahlasanor mentioned that Mage Shivana was particularly skilled at the recapture of swarms, and secured approval for him to join them with Ser Ashlock as escort. It will take some time for the gardens to regrow, as such things cannot be hurried, but the reconstruction was successful in good time given both the aid of the Inquisition in general and the happy accident of the Inquisition's Master Builder having been sent.
While successfully completed in this case, the pair would like to suggest that this matter be forwarded to the attention of both Scoutmaster Ashara and Mage Delacroix and Warden Serra with the Red Lyrium project, as there may be some value in being able to scout out further deposits of Red Lyrium before areas become largely overgrown by seeking awareness of other strange animal migratory and nesting patterns.

SUBJECT: Aboat A Bouy PARTICIPANTS: Freddie Durfort-Lacapalette, Jehan Mercier, Marcoulf de Ricart, Val de Foncé DATE FILED: Justinian 9:44 STATUS: Complete SUMMARY: A group of Chantry clerics specialising in research and the discovery of historical artifacts required a protective escort as they sail from Jader to Treviso. Nobody important died.
REPORT:
Dear Knight-Enchanter Amsel,
The Chantry personnel and the artifacts have been delivered intact, save for perhaps their nerves. We were fortunate to be boarded only once by pirates, who I believe gave up quicker than they might have otherwise when they realized what our cargo was. It is valuable, of course, but nothing you can eat or too easily sell. The Sisters and their accompanying Brother asked me to extend to you their sincerest gratitude. I know that it was sincere because they insisted on telling me so despite their seasickness and mild terror.
Marcoulf de Ricart, a recent arrival, conducted himself admirably, and I do not think my opinion of Baroness Dufort-Lacapalette and Monsieur de Foncé has ever been in question. We did nearly lose de Ricart to a squid, and the Baroness to the sea. Monsieur de Foncé was stabbed, but not seriously. He will make a full recovery, I am certain, though the recovery may be hasted by your prayers and well wishes.
SUBJECT: Absolute Shartanty PARTICIPANTS: Araceli Bonaventura, Myrobalan Shivana, Simon Ashlock, Wren Coupe DATE FILED: Justinian 9:44 STATUS: Complete SUMMARY: An Inquisition team went to Val Royeaux to provide security for a convention concerning the Canticle of Shartan’s reinstatement as a part of the Chant, rather than a Dissonant Verse. While not actively campaigning for the Canticle’s reinstatement, they did assist a Chantry sister whose scholarship may support its inclusion in the canon by retrieving a stolen manuscript for her.
REPORT: [The following letter is written in Simon’s hand, having been dictated by Myr.]
To Knight-Enchanter Amsel,
At the request of Revered Mother Berengaria, we journeyed to Val Royeaux to guard a convention of clerics gathered to debate the Canticle of Shartan. A number of attendees were expected to argue strongly for its reinstatement in the canon in full; consequently, the Revered Mother expected trouble between the various factions present.
At Knight-Lieutenant Coupe’s advisement--and with an eye toward maintaining the late Divine’s legacy and mandate for the Inquisition’s sake--we elected to maintain tight security especially for those Chantry sisters arguing in support of the Canticle’s return as a canon Verse. In addition to breaking up a fistfight that erupted during one of the debates, we assisted one Sister Aleya by retrieving the only copy of her latest manuscript from a thief who had taken it from her rooms. The sister’s work comparing the Dissonant Verses to the accepted canon appears to support claims that the first Justinia was the author of the Canticle of Shartan, and as such provides evidence for arguments to its validity as a historical document.
The question of the Canticle’s canonicity, however, remains unresolved. Strong cases were presented both for and against its re-inclusion in the Chant of Light and further conferences are planned to pursue the matter.
In Andraste’s love, Myrobalan Shivana, Simon Ashlock, Araceli Bonaventura y Castell, Luwenna Coupe
I thank you for your leadership in this endeavour, and an extremely grateful to all of you for your diligence and fortitude.
I have heard that yourself, the Baroness and Monsieur de Foncé have a strong rapport and history of working very well together, and appreciate your collaboration on this; having those we can rely upon in adverse circumstances means much. If I have need to call on you again for missions involving the protection of cargo, would you be content to work with this same combination of colleagues again?
Additionally, are there further preparations you would wish to be ensured, for better safety? A squid sounds a formidable danger, and if we can avoid loss of life or limb in our undertakings, I will do my utmost to secure the safety of our people on missions.
Thank you once again, and I will be sure to keep Monsieur de Foncé in my prayers.
