IC LEADERSHIP BIBLE

OTHER LEADERS

If you have an IC leadership role other than Division Head or Project Leader, your OOC job is pretty straightforward: RP your character doing their job and propose plots or events when/if necessary. But here are some other notes to help you out.

IC AUTHORITY: Generally speaking, your character can exercise authority within the scope of their role, as checked and balanced by other IC leaders and your character's boss, and you're welcome to have some fun with that. The Captain of the Watch can wake everyone up at 3 a.m. for an emergency drill. The Quartermaster can announce that shipments of food were lost in a storm and everyone will be eating oatmeal for all three meals until a second shipment is secured. OOC, you don't need to do plot requests or have prior approval for that sort of thing as long as it's purely fun/flavor or a one-off event that won't have long-lasting impact and that people can easily opt out of (by being away from the Gallows for a day or two, for instance).

You're also welcome and encouraged to submit plots based on your character's role. The Head of Special Acquisitions can submit plots focused on finding a legendary weapon or artifact somewhere, the Trademaster can propose a plot to go impress some merchants to secure a good deal on weaponry, etc.

HIERARCHY: The individual your character reports to in their leadership role is noted on the list, so if your character wants to propose any major initiatives, having an IC discussion with their boss or OOCly clearing it with their boss's player first is a good idea. Once that's done, you can submit plot requests to us.

SPACE: We've expanded the Central Tower rooms listings to give all of the IC positions offices in the Central Tower. (These are mostly random, so if you'd your character to be next door to a particular position or have to share an office with someone else for CR purposes, let us know via mod contact and we'll shift things around.) You're also free to assume that your character has plenty of room to safely store and lock up anything else they need for their jobs in empty rooms or the underground levels.

OTHER RESOURCES: Unless we announce a shortage elsewhere, you're free to assume that your character has the funding and resources necessary to do their jobs, within reason—Riftwatch as an organization is stretched thin, so your character should ICly be aware of that and mindful of waste unless you want them to get fired for misuse of funds. If you want to say your character is getting their hands on something abnormal or significantly expensive, like a dozen Orlesian lions and the world's greatest lion-tamer to train them to dance to impress new recruits, make sure you run it by us first.

We also strongly encourage deciding your character has already used up their budget or otherwise doesn't have access to funds/resources, if only temporarily, when it would make a plot or event more fun to RP.
