11 9:44 - Supply Chain Disaster

SUBJECT:
PARTICIPANTS: Nell Voss, Clarke Griffin, Gareth (the Archivist)
DATE FILED: Firstfall 10
STATUS: Complete
SUMMARY: Team sent to discreetly block some merchant traffic between Tevinter and Antiva by obstructing a key pass in the Hundred Pillars gets caught red-handed.

REPORT:

Kostos,

As you know, this mission was a disaster. We reached the pass without incident and scouted the location thoroughly before deciding our best option was to use magic to create a rockslide that would block travel through the pass. This would be difficult and time-consuming to clear, and would appear to be natural. Removal attempts might even cause future slides that would continue to block the pass. Rifter Clarke Griffin helped choose the optimal location to fully block the pass with minimal evidence of human intervention.

The plan was sound, but unfortunately the stone proved more stubborn than anticipated, and it was necessary for Gareth to lend his magical strength to the effort. Without him scouting the western approach, we were surprised by a party of travelers who arrived just in time to see us throw several boulders into the road. They party proved to be large, Antivan, and well-armed, and we chose to retreat rather than engage and risk damaging relations further by engaging.

At a certain point it became clear that were likely to be caught, and in order to prevent Clarke and Gareth and their anchors from being taken prisoner, I remained behind to create a distraction and cover their escape. Both returned to Kirkwall safely, while I was captured and transported to Seleny. Although I claimed no association with the Inquisition, they had already recognized insignia on our tack and I was not believed. Marisol Vivas later secured my release using her personal funds and influence, but they appeared to remain extremely suspicious of Inquisition involvement. Hopefully our later appearance at the Iansoli wedding went some way to repairing relations.

- N. Voss
